PROFESSOR JOHN LOWRY
The John Lowry Education Session held prior to each congress is dedicated to the memory John Lowry.
John studied under leading European surgeons of the day including Kole (Graz), Wunderer (Vienna), Obwegeser (Zurich) and Tessier (Paris). In 1976 John was appointed Consultant and developed a clinical service in Bolton. He was, amongst other posts, Visiting Professor in the University of Central Lancashire and a civilian Consultant to the Army in 1986.
John served initially as UK Councillor to EACMFS (1990) and subsequently Secretary General. He was constantly fostering new links worldwide and was an ambassador of the European spirit. He was dedicated to EACMFS with a focus on standards of training and was passionate about helping young colleagues. His name will remain linked to the education of trainees.
